The Afterburner Project at present is a retexturing the game Descent 2, and used in conjuction with the game mod D2X-XL. It began June 2006 thru present.
The Descent Series came about in the mid 90's a, 6 axis or 6 degrees of freedom game/shooter.Not your typical ground pounder,Descent is quite unique and simply ahead of its time.Only one or 2 other 6DOF games have been released to date, but with light on the horizon "Core Decision" is coming down the pipe, and personally I cant wait to get this one.

Koolbear has graciously given me a subdomain to host a number of Descent 2 High Resolution Textures in beta and further hosted at the D2X-XL Website.

The Textures
So far Ive made roughyly 100 (maybe more) high resolution wall/floor textures for D2X-XL, some released some not, as some still need work.
Includes a complete missle and rack set, a number of Walls, Rocks, floors, and grates, presently Im working on primary weapons for the project.
Originally the Textures were released in zip file packs, they were quite large for hosting.That being said, if Diedel and the community likes them or believes they are complete they will be hosted at the D2X-XL Website Downloads Section. Ill be posting beta versions of the afterburner works here, per texture, posting them as updates at the DBB every so often when I have a few done, So if you want to check them out immediatly you can by getting them here, or you can wait for a group of them via the dbb.

Descent2 and Quake2 are my all time fave games followed very closely by Unreal Tournament, which is where most of my online gaming time has been spent i.e...I FINALLY got a cable modem WOOT!!. Here's the website I built for the now defunct TK Clan "Team Killer",I was very proud to be in that clan as they were a very cool group and awesome at the Tournament.
We played UT vanilla and mostly with the Mr. Pants Excessive Overkill mod/mutator
